This business grew out of a reset—and a realization that I needed to find mindful happiness alongside a healthy life. Like so many others, I lost my business during the pandemic. That loss, combined with a serious health crisis and a long road to recovery, forced me to step away from a decades-long career in food and beverage. The pace I had been living simply wasn't sustainable, and walking away became a necessity.

During that recovery, something unexpected happened: I discovered baking. I also found that hitting the trails provided a vital reset for my mental health—the fresh air and the movement allowed me to clear my head and find my footing.

For most of my life, I believed that happiness required perfection—strict diets, grueling exercise, and constant "on" mode. But I discovered a kinder truth: true health includes room for joy. I realized that a mindful life, a great hike, and a really good cookie could all exist together. I didn't need to be perfect; I just needed to be balanced.

Baking brought clarity, patience, and purpose back into my life. And as it turned out, the cookies were really good.

Basecamp Cookie Co. is built on that mission. Having navigated severe anxiety and the loss of those close to me to addiction, mental health awareness is our core. Life can be a heavy climb, and our hope is that these cookies provide the "basecamp" you need to refuel, breathe, and rediscover your inner child.
